Get ready for the ‘Baap’ of all online poker offerings this January as 2019 kicks off with the biggest ever edition of the India Online Poker Championship (IOPC). Featuring more than 50 tournaments and a mind boggling INR 8.5 Crores in guaranteed prizes! Now that’s a crackling start to your New Year courtesy of The Spartan Poker where all this action will take place from 11-20 January 2019.
As players on the Indian circuit will be aware, the IOPC is the online version of India Poker Championship (IPC), a live tournament brand which started in 2010 and has done a number of live poker tournaments in Goa and Sri Lanka as well. When the organisers realised that there were many players who wished to participate in the IPC but were unable to travel to Goa, they set up the IOPC so that no one would miss out. In the span of just 2 years, the IOPC has grown steadily giving bigger guarantees and additional prizes like luxury automobiles. The online version is, without doubt, the biggest and most popular series in India, with guarantees that are unmatched by any of the other Indian competitors.
Due to the enormity of this series, it is held only twice a year by and on The Spartan Poker, where players from all around the country try to be among the winners and try to earn a prestigious IOPC title. Or maybe even two! It’s not just another edition of the IOPC, but it’s also set to be the biggest ever IOPC series, or we might even say the biggest ever series in the history of online poker in India. These prizes will be spread over 10 days and a total of 55 tournaments, which include buy-ins ranging between INR 330 to INR 1 Lakh. Yes, that’s right! The INR 70 Lakh GTD Super Highroller (SHR) is the first time that the country will see a 6-figure entry fee for an online poker tournament. Trust The Spartan Poker to bring up such amazing opportunities!
Apart from the SHR, there are plenty of other high-value tournaments which will be contested during the series, including the massive INR 1 Crore GTD Millionaire (13th Jan) as well as the INR 1.5 Crore GTD Main Event (20th Jan). To add to this, the IOPC Leaderboard will offer INR 30 Lakhs in guaranteed prizes, including a luxurious Skoda Octavia to the eventual winner, so there’s plenty motivation to keep grinding through the series. Take a look at the IOPC Leaderboard prize distribution here:
2018’s first edition of the IOPC was held with the ‘Babaji Raise The Bar’ tagline, where INR 6+ crore was on offer between 12-21 January. The last edition of the IOPC was held in July 2018 and there were many happy poker players by the end of that competition, where INR 7+ crore was on offer with the ‘Skill Se Kar Kill’ tagline. The last edition saw Pulkit Goyal aka ‘ChampionPlayer’ ending as the Player of the Series, taking away a stunning Jeep Compass as a leaderboard prize, in addition to his tournament winnings. The Main Event was one of the highlights of that tournament which was taken down by Sangeeth Mohan aka ‘Nangaanaach’, shipping the tournament for nearly 20 lakhs rupees in prize money.
It’s bigger and better now as a never-seen-before series guarantee is here, to go with the biggest buy-in event, Spartan’s biggest IOPC Main Event, and an IOPC Leaderboard. Of course, poker is about skill and this leaderboard will be one where all the best players will be vying for a top spot, for the additional prize money as well as all the bragging rights.
