Following the phenomenal success of the last edition where INR 20+ Crore was given away, Spartan is giving every poker fan a chance to win life changing prizes overnight. Get ready for 19 days of madness this monsoon! The rains and coronavirus will be two reasons to stay indoors during that time. IOPC on Spartan Poker will be the third and best reason!
A total of 113 events are slated to run over a period of two week with buy-ins ranging between INR 550 to as high as INR 1.05 Lakh. Surely, IOPC can’t go without action-packed Millionaires! So, ink your calendars with three mind-blowing tourneys:

IOPC Jan 2020
The 10th edition of IOPC INR 16 Crore GTD ($2.2 million) was hosted earlier this year in January/February and it created waves on a global level. The Main Event guaranteed INR 3 Crore which is around $422K, not too far away from the guarantees being posted by the European poker operators. A total of 99 events were lined up in IOPC Jan 2020 including INR 3 Crore GTD Millionaire Main Event and Anurag Srivastava aka ‘Norman Bates’ turned an INR 11K buy-in into INR 59+ Lakh, outlasting a monstrous field of 3,490 entries. He said, “IOPC is a great series; it’s the biggest series we have in the country. I’m just grateful to be on the list of one of the biggest scores in India.”
After 17 days of intense grinding and maintaining remarkable consistency, Amit Sur aka ‘Immortal Killer’ topped the leaderboard, driving away in a stunning MG Hector. With the stakes being increased for the July 2020 edition, expect bigger winners and more winners to be crowned in India’s most prestigious online poker championship!
Scaling New Peaks
IOPC was introduced back in October 2015 and has had a record-breaking turnout since its commencement. The first ever series had 26 tournaments, offering INR 8.6 Lakh GTD. It has grown and grown rapidly, so much that the at this time last year, the IOPC July 2019 series introduced the massive INR 2 Crore GTD Millionaire Main Event, where 20-year-old Srihari Bang aka ‘bangbang99’ ended victorious taking home gigantic prize of INR 48.56 Lakh!
Gutshot Magazine caught up with the younger Bang brother after the victory, who said, “It’s surreal to take down the Millionaire and the Pokerstars Sunday special the same night. Was close to shipping another IOPC event earlier in the series but lost the HU. The real happiness comes from the fact that we sattied our way on the final day and hence effectively making our grind a 14-hr grind.”
Undoubtedly, Spartan has amped up the poker experience to next level by breaking its own record time to time. So, let the excitement roll this July with India’s leading online poker platform raising the bar high with a whopping and enthralling INR 25 Crore GTD IOPC July 2020!

There’s a different vibe and excitement when it comes to the India Poker Championship (IPC). What began with small fields of 70-80 players on board the Casino Royale in 2010-11 soon boomed to hundreds of entries in each edition of the IPC that have been hosted over the last 9-10 years.
When the first India Poker Champion was crowned in December 2010, Aditya Sushant made his way past an 87-entry field to win INR 6,26,000 in prize money. The situation is different today with guarantees and fields both rising steadily and the latest to be crowned India Poker Champion, Rubin Labroo, won a whopping INR 45+ Lakh for beating 693 entries in the IPC Main Event.
Rubin Labroo was crowned the India Poker Champion of the 2020 season
Players from across the country mark the dates in their calendars each time IPC is announced, and 14-19 January was the latest edition that took place on board the Big Daddy Casino in Goa. Once again, the guarantees were crushed, and many players walked away richer than they would’ve imagined 10 days ago!
The series promised a total guarantee of INR 5 Crore across 4 tournaments, but it comes as no surprise to tell you that all guarantees were passed. Across 5 days of the series, a total of 1,756 entries participated in the five different tournaments hosted, with a total of INR 6.2+ Crore distributed in overall prize money. Here’s a complete breakdown of what happened…

The Indian poker industry is in such a stage where the numbers are just swelling by the month and we don’t expect this growth to stop anytime soon.
A few days ago, the India Poker Championship wrapped up in Goa where INR 6+ Crore was given away in prizes across 5 days and Rubin Labroo was crowned the 2020 India Poker Champion. In India, the live and online circuits are growing simultaneously and with the IPC done, it’s now time for some funs at the virtual felts.
Starting tomorrow, Spartan Poker will be hosting yet another edition of the India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) which is all set to break Indian online poker records. The 10th edition of the IOPC is set to give away a whopping INR 16+ Crore in guaranteed prizes between 24th Jan – 9th Feb 2020!
No other online platform in India has come near such massive prizes and in fact, the IOPC is creating waves on a global level as well. While Spartan Poker doesn’t have nearly as many daily visitors as seen in European online operators 888poker and Unibet Poker, they’re really cranking it up in terms of prize money on offer.
When we talk about the Indian poker industry, we’re clearly behind western countries in terms of both traffic as well as revenue. However, India has a population of over a billion and the potential is huge, and Spartan is clearly investing in the future of online poker in India.
Spartan is hosting IOPC at a similar time that European operators 888poker, Unibet Poker and MPN are hosting their own online series. 888’s XL series comes with a $1.4 million prize pool while MPN’s final installment of Universal Championship of Poker (UCOP) is giving away $555,000 and Unibet’s Online Series VII offers a guarantee of $445,000. Spartan’s IOPC Main Event itself comes with an INR 3 Crore guarantee which is around $422k while the overall series guarantee is INR 16 Crore which equals around $2.25 million!
The numbers say it all and the IOPC only keeps growing in India, being hosted twice a year currently. The last edition hosted in July 2019 came with an INR 11 Crore guarantee and the one before that in Jan 2019 promised INR 8.5 Crore in prizes. While we’re still fairly behind the rest of the world, IOPC is paving the way for the Indian market, being an impetus to this constantly growing industry.
“The overwhelming response from players across the country for previous editions encourage us to constantly invest in superior player experience and keep bringing exciting gaming options to our customers,” said Amin Rozani, Co-founder and CEO of Spartan Poker. When asked about these rising guarantees, he said, “Spartan has always been a tournament-friendly website and we’ve always aimed at providing maximum value to our players whenever we host a flagship series like IOPC, SSS and others. We hope to keep raising the bar in coming months and years.”
We’re now one day away from the start of the series and players have been preparing since weeks, because of the gigantic prizes on offer. Never before has an Indian online operator offered an INR 3 Crore GTD Main Event, while the INR 110k Super High Roller is the highest ever buy-in for a single online tournament in the country.
Records are meant to be broken and Spartan Poker has sent the records tumbling with this ambitious poker series that begins tomorrow. As Indian online poker prize pools start to beat those being offered in Europe and other parts of the world, 2020 is set to be the best year for poker in our country so far!

IPC 2020 – 5 Crores GTD
The IPC has always held a special place in the pages of Indian poker history. Over the years the brand has earned the goodwill of thousands of players who have participated in its various editions. Despite going on hiatus a couple of times, the IPC made its comeback in a big way both times setting attendance records with every edition they did. This time too it’s going to be no different. After their return to Goa in September, the IPC will now begin the new year with its opening edition of 2020 set to take place from 14-19 January onboard Big Daddy Casino in Goa. The September edition had promised 3 crores in guaranteed prizes and the IPC crushed that by going well over 5 Crores in the series. This time around the organisers have amped up the guarantee for the January to INR 5 Crores! And we won’t be too surprised if this new year edition of the IPC goes on to crush previous records for prizepools and attendance.
The highlight of the series will be the IPC Main Event, which has a higher buy-in of INR 50,000 this time around. The winner of this prestigious Main Event will be crowned the India Poker Champion of the 2020 season. So not only will there be tremendous cash prizes to compete for but also the honour and glory of being crowned as the national poker champion of India! Check out the schedule for IPC Jan 2020 HERE.
IOPC 2020 – 16 Crores GTD
And there is barely any breathing room for poker enthusiasts as the IPC’s online avatar, the India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) will soon set the virtual felts at SpartanPoker.com ablaze. The IOPC is recognised as India’s biggest online tournament series and has had record breaking turnouts and prizepools with every edition it has done since its inception in October 2015. To give you an idea of its phenomenal growth trajectory, IOPC Oct 2015 had 26 tournaments offering 8.6 Lakhs in guarantees. 4 years later, the IOPC Jan 2020 edition will feature 100 tournaments and a mammoth 16 Crores in guaranteed prizes! Not only is this an indicator of the popularity and growth of the IOPC, but it’s a significant representation of how far poker as a game itself has come in terms of being the mind sport of choice for this generation of card players.
The IOPC will take place at Spartan Poker from 24 January to 09 February 2020 and if it’s last edition is anything to go by, we can surely expect yet another guarantee crusher of a series this time around as well.
